Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHS) in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (General Learning Concentration)
Diagnostic Medical Sonography Degree Programs
The BHS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a 3,010-clock-hour, 130-semester-credit degree program designed to provide advanced education and hands-on training in diagnostic ultrasound. The General Learning Concentration covers abdominal, obstetrical and gynecological, breast, general vascular, and cardiac sonography through a combination of academic instruction, ultrasound laboratory training, and clinical experience.
Students develop the technical knowledge, patient-care skills, and practical imaging experience needed to prepare for professional opportunities in diagnostic medical sonography. The program is delivered in a blended format and builds a broad foundation across multiple areas of sonographic imaging.

The AAS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a 2,290-clock-hour, 101-semester-credit degree program that combines classroom instruction, hands-on ultrasound laboratory training, and clinical experience. Students study anatomy and physiology, ultrasound physics, diagnostic imaging, patient care, and sonographic techniques while developing practical scanning skills.
The program prepares students with foundational knowledge and clinical skills across abdominal, gynecological, breast, vascular, and cardiac sonography. Through AMSC’s blended learning format and supervised hands-on training, students gain experience designed to prepare them for entry-level opportunities in diagnostic medical sonography.

What will I learn in AMSC's Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs?
AMSC’s ultrasound programs provide education and practical training across multiple areas of diagnostic medical sonography. Depending on the program, coursework includes ultrasound physics, abdominal sonography, obstetrical and gynecological sonography, vascular sonography, cardiac sonography, anatomy and physiology, patient care, and ultrasound imaging techniques. Students also receive hands-on laboratory training using professional ultrasound equipment and complete a clinical externship.
