Admissions Requirements

American Medical Sciences Center (AMSC College)

In order to be accepted, all applicants are required to complete the following:

  • Application form
  • Complete and pass AMSC test (attempts to measure the applicant’s aptitude to successfully complete the educational program)
  • Complete an oral interview with the admission representative of the school

AMSC does not discriminate towards an applicant based on sex, religion, race, ethnic origin, age, natural origin or handicap. A handicapped applicant will be assessed according to his or her ability to perform the essential functions required of a graduate of any particular program of study, with or without reasonable accommodations. AMSC reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant who does not meet the school’s established criteria for admission.

The general provisions for admission to the American Medical Sciences Center are as follows:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required

Applicants must take and pass the standardized admissions test

Participation in a mandatory school orientation is required

Admissions Procedures

The following procedures are established for admission to AMSC:

  • The applicant must schedule an appointment with an Admissions Counselor.
  • The prospective student will be provided with a copy of the school catalog.

Prior to meeting with an admissions representative, the applicant must:

  • Complete the Admissions Application.
  • Take the admissions entrance test.
  • If a passing score of 21 or higher is achieved:
    • The applicant will be scheduled for a personal interview.
    • The interview will include:
      • Disclosure of completion and placement rates
      • A tour of the facility
      • Discussion of tuition payment plans
      • Review of the applicant’s professional, educational, and personal goals
    • The applicant must submit:
      • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
      • Transcript and any additional required documentation

F-1 Visa Students

International (F-1 visa) students are welcome to apply to AMSC from within the United States or abroad. AMSC offers:

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree
    • 2,290 hours / 101 semester credits
  • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 3,010 hours / 130 semester credits

Both programs are in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, one of the most in-demand fields in healthcare.

These programs combine classroom instruction with hands-on clinical training, preparing students with the knowledge and practical skills required for today’s healthcare environment.

F-1 Visa Eligibility and Requirements

AMSC is approved by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), authorized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of State, to enroll nonimmigrant F-1 visa students.

Students currently studying in the United States may be eligible to transfer their SEVIS record to AMSC. International applicants should contact AMSC Admissions for current F-1 enrollment, transfer, and documentation requirements.

Before being considered for admission, international applicants must:

  • Complete the Admissions Application and submit a $75 processing fee.
  • Provide proof of high school graduation or equivalent.
  • Take the SLE admissions test and achieve a score of at least 21.

Applicants not currently in the U.S. must demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following:

  • TOEFL score of at least 450
  • High school or college transcripts demonstrating English proficiency
  • Completion of an approved ESL (English as a Second Language) program
  • Other equivalent documentation of communication skills

Applying for an F-1 Visa

Prospective students outside the U.S. must apply for an F-1 visa through a U.S. consulate. This includes attending a visa interview.

Prior to the interview, applicants must pay the SEVIS I-901 fee through the Department of Homeland Security. Payment can be made online at http://www.fmjfee.com, and a printed receipt must be presented as proof of payment.

Applicants should be prepared to provide the following:

  • Form I-20, signed by the Designated School Official (DSO)
  • Receipt confirming payment of the SEVIS I-901 fee
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • SLE test scores and proof of English proficiency
  • Program outline with start and end dates
  • Financial documentation demonstrating sufficient funding (student or sponsor)
  • Completed nonimmigrant visa application forms
  • A valid passport with at least six months of validity beyond the intended stay

I-20 Certification

Once the application process is complete and all required materials are submitted, the Admissions Committee will review the applicant’s file.

If the applicant meets all admission requirements and demonstrates sufficient financial resources, AMSC will collect the necessary biographical and financial information to issue Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student.”

Applicants will be notified promptly and will receive their Form I-20 along with additional information regarding registration and visa procedures.
