Diagnostic medical sonographers specialize in creating images of the body’s organs and tissues. Diagnostic medical sonographers, Vascular Technologists also called diagnostic imaging workers, operate special imaging equipment to create images or conduct tests. The images and test results help physicians assess and diagnose medical conditions. General Learning Concentration specializes in imaging a patient’s Abdominal, Obstetrical Gynecological, General Vascular, Breast, and Cardiac system. Theory content and laboratory experience focuses on ultrasound studies in the General Learning concentration. Upon satisfactory completion of the AMSC College students receive a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Students with this degree as advanced sonographers are frequently employed as supervisors, directors, managers, educators, and researchers.

The AAS in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a 2,290-clock-hour, 101-semester-credit degree program that combines classroom instruction, hands-on ultrasound laboratory training, and clinical experience. Students study anatomy and physiology, ultrasound physics, diagnostic imaging, patient care, and sonographic techniques while developing practical scanning skills.
